Education Co-op

The Congregation Kol Halev Education Co-op is a family-based education program for children ages 6-10 to provide a background of Jewish learning and prepare them for the Kol Halev B'nai Mitzvah program (ages 10-13). The Co-op's goals are to build community, Jewish identity, and a love for Jewish learning.

The curriculum includes Torah, Jewish Values and Spirituality, and Hebrew. Classes will be held two Sundays a month at the Dell Jewish Community Center. Parents participate in the teaching of the curriculum under the guidance of Rabbi Baker . Rabbi Baker will teach the Jewish Values and Spirituality classes for all levels, and Dr. Reuven Robbins will teach the Hebrew component for the Bet and higher classes. Cantor Sherwin will sing with the children monthly, preparing them to participate in Kol Halev's regular family Shabbat service.

We are now accepting enrollment for the 2005 - 2006 academic year.  Please submit the following information to Anita Sadun even if your child was enrolled previously, as we need to get an accurate count for planning purposes.

Name of child
Age
Grade in school
Names of parents

Email address

If you are not yet a member of the Congregation, membership forms can be downloaded here.

Co-op fees of $175 for children who will be in the Aleph class (6-7 year-olds), and $250 for all others may be mailed to Karen Glina, the CKH bookkeeper, at 3415 Greystone Drive, Suite 307, Austin, TX 78731. B'nai Mitzvah Chavurah

An important part of the Bar/Bat at Mitzvah process is for each student and his or her family to develop a strong, positive sense of membership in the Jewish Community. Rabbi Baker and Cantor Sherwin will assist parents in managing the B’nai Mitzvah Chavurah, an informal group whose members support each other during the Bar/Bat Mitzvah process.

Parents rotate volunteer assignments to coordinate the Chavurah activities. Previous Chavurah activities have included visiting other congregations, attending a film or performance with a Jewish theme, or participating in a community event such as Israeli Independence Day, or a Tzedekah activity such as Hands-on-Housing or the Crop Walk.
