----------------------------------------

This Week at Kol Halev:

Rebbe & Rebbetzin's Tisch, Friday, November 3rd, 6:30 pm, Rabbi Kerry & Lynda Baker's home.
Shabbat as it should be - at home, surrounded by family and friends with great food, stories, songs, and of course, schmoozin'! A great Kol Halev tradition, all are welcome to the home of Rabbi Kerry, Lynda, & Emily Baker. Please bring a dish to share: dairy/pareve only. Please call (512) 419-0945 or email Rabbi Baker rabbi@kolhalev.org> to RSVP.

Chevrat Shlosha Devarim (CSD), Saturday, November 4th, 10:00 am, JCAA Community Hall.
Join us as young and old alike help lead this warm and intimate service. Many of our B'nai Mitzvah students (past & present) lead prayers and chant Torah. Please contact Reuven Robbins (453-5456 or rrobbins@austin.rr.com) if you would like a part in the service. A kiddish luncheon follows the service. If you would like to help sponsor the luncheons, send your tax-deductible contributions to the CKH office (with a note designating if for this purpose).

....  Next Week  ....

Rabbi Baker’s Class for Teens, Sunday, November 5th, 1:15 pm, CKH Office. Rabbi Baker is soon to begin a class for the teens of CKH (high school or post Bar or Bat Mitzvah). The class will include two types of sessions. Rabbi Baker will lead a series of discussions on hot topic such as Israel, sexuality, etc. Interspersed in this series of discussions will be sessions organized by Shlomi Harif in which the teens will meet with people from the community (politicians, artists, academics, religious leaders, etc.). These latter sessions may involve discussions but they also may involve activities in the community such as service projects designed to connect with issues addressed in the discussions with Rabbi Baker. The class begins on Sunday, November 5th at 1:15 pm at the Congregational Office.

Torah Study, Tuesday, November 7th, Noon, CKH Office.

B'nai Mitzvah Chavurah Shabbat, Friday, November 10th, 6:30 pm, ECP Multi-purpose Room. Join our B'nai Mitzvah students as they lead a special Shabbat service. Immediately after the service, join us for a dairy/pareve pot-luck dinner. Rumor has it that Rabbi Baker is providing a special dessert!

....  CKH B'nai Mitzvah Youth Group  ....

The CKH post b'nai mitzvah youth group is having its second event on Sunday, November 19th from 4:30 pm - 6:30 pm at Austin's Park & Pizza. Meet at the park entrance on IH35 in Pflugerville at 4:30. Current youth group members should bring $10, and CKH will cover the rest of your play/food package. And if you haven't joined yet, please bring the $10 for the event and a check for $36 made out Congregation Kol Halev (along with your membership application, from the CKH website) for the youth group membership. That covers membership for the entire school year, so it's quite a steal!!! Please RSVP to Amy O'Desky at <aodesky@austin.rr.com> NO LATER THAN THURSDAY, NOVEMBER 16th.

....  Chesed (Loving Kindness) Committee  ....

The Chesed (loving kindness) Committee exists to ensure that every Kol Halev family is supported in times of need. Meals, babysitting, transportation, shopping assistance, feeding pets, and mowing lawns are a few of the services the committee arranges. We also want to acknowledge milestones in congregants' lives, such as the birth of a child, graduation, and marriages.

In a sense, we are all members of the Chesed Committee. There are three main ways you can participate. One is to be available to provide help when the need arises. Second is to let the committee chair, Sherry Blum (sblum@austincc.edu or 288-1128), know of opportunities to lend a hand or make a call. Please let me know about serious illness, death, a request to mention a name for the Mi Shebeirach (prayer for healing), as well as milestone events. Third is to volunteer to participate in the organization of the committee, and/or to help with one of the ongoing tasks of the committee such as being a contact person for emergencies, arranging for help, sending out cards, and maintaining the Mi Shebeirach list.
