The Chesed (loving kindness) Committee exists to ensure that every Kol Halev family is supported in times of need. Meals, babysitting, transportation, shopping assistance, feeding pets, and mowing lawns are a few of the services the committee arranges. We also want to acknowledge milestones in congregants' lives, such as the birth of a child, graduation, and marriages.
In a sense, we are all members of the Chesed Committee. There are three main ways you can participate. One is to be available to provide help when the need arises. Second is to let the committee chair, Sherry Blum (sblum@austincc.edu or 288-1128), know of opportunities to lend a hand or make a call. Please let me know about serious illness, death, a request to mention a name for the Mi Shebeirach (prayer for healing), as well as milestone events. Third is to volunteer to participate in the organization of the committee, and/or to help with one of the ongoing tasks of the committee such as being a contact person for emergencies, arranging for help, sending out cards, and maintaining the Mi Shebeirach list.

following topics: the Samaritan Shabbat and Counting of the Omer; their
ancient First Temple era Hebrew script and unusual pronunciation
patterns; how they chant the Torah; why they hold B’nai Mitzvah
celebrations even earlier than the 13th year; how they were able to
maintain the Passover sacrifice every year even for the past 2,000
years; why they hold Mount Gerizim to be a sacred place according to the
Torah; and why they count only seven festival days in the year.
