----------------------------------------

This Week at Kol Halev:

Rebbe & Rebbetzin's Tisch, Friday, March 2nd, 6:30 pm, Rabbi Kerry & Lynda Baker's home.
Shabbat as it should be - at home, surrounded by family and friends with great food, stories, songs, and of course, schmoozin'!  A great Kol Halev tradition, all are welcome to the home of Rabbi Kerry, Lynda & Emily Baker.  Please bring a dish to share: dairy/pareve only. Please call (512) 419-0945 or email Rabbi Baker <rabbi@kolhalev.org> to RSVP.

Celebrate Purim with Kol Halev, Saturday, March 3rd, 6:00 pm, ECP Multi-purpose Room.
We will start with fun and games for kids of all ages. At 7:00 we will have our folk service followed by a special presentation of "Shushan Squares" (remember the old Hollywood Squares?). We will wrap up with a costume parade and judging with Rabbi Baker's special awards.

Torah Study, Tuesday, February 27th, Noon, CKH Office.  CANCELED this week.

Adult Education - Jewish Values, Monday, March 5th, 7:00 pm, CKH office.
Rabbi Kerry Baker will teach a four week course called “Being Jewish Means Acting Jewish: Essential Jewish Values and How to Live Them”.  The class meets on Mondays at 7:00 p.m. during March (except March 12th when we will observe Spring Break).  [This course is part of a series of Monday evening adult education classes led by Rabbi Baker.  Topics of subsequent classes are: “Being Jewish Means Thinking Jewish: Essential Insights of Modern Jewish Thinkers” and “Being Jewish Means Experiencing Jewish: Essential Ways Jewish Mystics Encounter the World.”  These classes are open to CKH members and their friends (from whom a donation is requested).  All these classes count toward preparation for adult bar/bat mitzvah, as well.]  Call CKH (419-0945) or Rabbi Baker (947-6000) for more information.

....  Next Week  ....

Shabbat, Friday, March 9th.
CKH will not have a Shabbat service on March 9th.  Rabbi Baker will be on vacation.  And Cantor Sherwin will participate in the installation for Rabbi Susan Lippe at Congregation Beth Israel.  All members of the community are invited and encouraged to participate in this event.

Chevrat Shlosha Devarim (CSD), Saturday, March 10th, 10:00 am, JCAA Community Hall.
Join us as young and old alike help lead this warm and intimate service.  Many of our B'nai Mitzvah students (past & present) lead prayers and chant Torah.  Please contact Reuven Robbins (453-5456 or <rrobbins@austin.rr.com> ) if you would like a part in the service. A kiddish luncheon follows the service. If you would like to help sponsor the luncheons, send your tax-deductible contributions to the CKH office (with a note designating if for this purpose).

....  In the Community  ....

Special Tapestry Encore Event, Nostalgia, Thursday, March 1st, 7:30 pm, JCAA Community Hall. The musical performance, Nostalgia, is based on a personal, yet universal story of one woman's escape during the 1956 revolution from war torn Budapest. From Communist occupied Hungary to freedom in the United States, international song stylist and jazz vocalist (and CKH member), Judy Alpert, will weave her moving story in the popular songs of the era. Tickets will be available at the door the evening of the performance. General admission - $11; Seniors, JCAA Members and Students - $9. For information: 453-5365 or <judyalp101@aol.com>.
