Host a Soldier for Seder
Support our Jewish soldiers and their families during Passover!
The Austin Community Relations Council (CRC) has invited the Jewish
soldiers and their families from Fort Hood to join us for a Passover
seder on April 2 and April 3, 2007. Let us know how you would be
willing to support our troops!
We are looking for:
- Families to host a soldier (and their family) to a seder in the
home
- Families to host a soldier (and their family) at a community
seder
- Individuals to underwrite the cost of soldiers and their
families attending community seders
Contact Dana Epstein at 735-8012 or <dana.epstein@shalomaustin.org>
with questions or to sign-up (before March 21st). Let us all
celebrate the Festival of Freedom with those who defend it!
TAKS Test Conflict Information
The Texas Education Agency (TEA) has scheduled the first administration
of the fifth (5th) grade Texas Assessment of Knowledge and Skills (TAKS)
mathematics test for Tuesday April 3, 2007. As this date conflicts
with the first day of Pesach, our children are entitled to take the test
on an alternate date with no penalty. For more information, visit
the ADL web site, http://www.adlsouthwest.org/view_article.php?article_id=221.
If you are feeling particularly put-out with our government for ignoring
our religious traditions, call TEA or your legislator or the governor.

Do you have an announcement? Good news? Community service opportunity? Please send submissions for inclusion into the Congregation newsletter to newsletter@kolhalev.org by 10:00pm Monday (next deadline is March 26, 2007). My goal is to send the newsletter every Tuesday.
Have you missed a recent issue of the CKH Newsletter? If so, you can always find back issues at http://www.kolhalev.org/emailnewsletters/index.html.
