This Week at Kol Halev:

Kabbalat Shabbat, Friday, April 27th, 7:30 pm, ECP Multi-purpose Room.
Join us for our regular Friday night Shabbat Service.

Chevrat Shlosha Devarim (CSD), Saturday, April 28th, 10:00 am, JCAA Community Hall.
Join us as young and old alike help lead this warm and intimate service. Many of our B'nai Mitzvah students (past & present) lead prayers and chant Torah. Please contact Reuven Robbins (453-5456 or <rrobbins@austin.rr.com> ) if you would like a part in the service. A kiddish luncheon follows the service. If you would like to help sponsor the luncheons, send your tax-deductible contributions to the CKH office (with a note designating if for this purpose).

Haverim Ke'tanim (Little Friends), Saturday, April 28th, 5:00 pm, la Madeleine (restaurant), 3418 N. Lamar Blvd. (map).
After a wonderful learning and worship experience featuring stories, music, arts & crafts, games and a kid-friendly Havdalah service, the kindergartners, pre-schoolers and their families can stay for dinner and get to know each other, schedule play-dates, etc.

Torah Meets Tinseltown, Saturday, April 28th, 6:30pm, Rabbi & Lynda Baker's house.
Come to the next meeting of "Torah Meets Tinseltown" at Chez Baker. We will observe Havdalah at 6:30 pm. Then Rabbi Baker will give a brief introduction to the move. We’ll watch and talk about “Ushpizin.” To learn more about the movie, visit the official website www.ushpizin.com. After the movie Rabbi Baker will lead a discussion. Please RSVP at 419-0945 or <rabbi@kolhalev.org>.

Sundays in the Park (with Rebbe), Sunday, April 29th, 10:00, Central Market Café, 4001 N. Lamar Blvd. (map).
“Sundays in the Park with Rebbe” is the title of Rabbi Baker’s Sunday morning series of discussions at the Central Market Café from 10:00 a.m. – 11:30 a.m. This year’s series features topics taken from “You Be the Judge,” a book by Joel Lurie Grishaver which presents a number of provocative ethical dilemmas, quandaries, and challenges with a Jewish, spiritual or moral twist—and a proposed Jewish resolution, all of which is fair game for our discussion over gourmet coffee and nosherei (little stuff to nibble). Here are the kind of the dilemmas we’ll consider: The Kippah That Was Too Trustworthy, The Nolan Ryan Rookie Card Caper, Can You Cheat at Torah?, and How Long Is ‘Til Death Do Us Part’?

....  B'nai Mitzvah Chavurah  ....

Ryan Ladd and Jordan Zylberberg held a fund raiser dance to benefit the Make-a-Wish Foundation on April 21 as their Bar Mitzvah community service project.  Over 200 people were in attendance, and the event netted over $3000 for the foundation.  Michelle Schwartz was present to receive the donation and help educate the children and parents in attendance about the organization.  The boys are both studying with Rabbi Kerry Baker and will celebrate their B'nai Mitzvah at Congregation Kol Halev on consecutive Shabbatot next January.  (Look for photos in the June issue of The Jewish Outlook.)
