Congregation Kol Halev Newsletter,
May 22, 2007 / 05 Sivan 5767

Goodbye
Cantor Sherwin
It's time to send-off Cantor Sherwin. Friday,
May 25th will be Robbi's last service as Cantor of Congregation Kol
Halev. Please join us to give her a rousing "L'hit
ra'ot" (until we meet again). She's not going far, but
this is our opportunity to give her "a big hug" for all the
love, joy, and spiritual life she has brought to CKH over the last ten
years.
To make the evening special, there will be a
pot-luck dessert Oneg after the service.
Linda Halbreich is organizing the dessert Oneg. To help
ensure appropriate variety and adequate quantity, email Linda <Lindahalbreich@aol.com>
what you plan to bring (bring something even if you can't email Linda).
Let's show Robbi how much we appreciate that she has enriched
each of our lives and made Kol Halev a special part of the Jewish
community.

Sundays in the Park (with Rebbe), Sunday, May
27th, 10:00am, Central Market Café, 4001
N. Lamar Blvd. (map).
“Sundays in the Park with Rebbe” is the title of Rabbi Baker’s
Sunday morning series of discussions at the Central Market Café from
10:00 a.m. – 11:30 a.m. This year’s series features topics taken
from “You Be the Judge,” a book by Joel Lurie Grishaver which
presents a number of provocative ethical dilemmas, quandaries, and
challenges with a Jewish, spiritual or moral twist—and a proposed
Jewish resolution, all of which is fair game for our discussion over
gourmet coffee and nosherei (little stuff to nibble). Here are the kind
of the dilemmas we’ll consider: The Kippah That Was Too Trustworthy,
The Nolan Ryan Rookie Card Caper, Can You Cheat at Torah?, and How Long
Is ‘Til Death Do Us Part’?
Torah Study, Tuesday, May 29th, Noon, CKH
Office.

Florence Melton Adult Mini-School Graduation 2007
After two years of studying together the 6th graduate class of the
Florence Melton Adult Mini-School in Austin will gather together with
their families at the JCAA on Wednesday May 30th at 7pm for their
graduation ceremony. The graduates this year are: Susan
Epstein, Jennifer Repass, Steve Burger, Shoshanah Dietz, Teri Golden,
Kim Kahn, Sara Kolett, Sonia Paban, Pam Prais, Miriam Schimmoller,
Natalie Weinstein, and Meredith Klein.
Make Graduation Gift Giving Meaningful and Easy
with Israel Bonds
Whether the graduate is a pre-schooler or a doctor, the $100 Mazel Tov
Bond is a meaningful way to share your values with the graduate and
support the State of Israel. Your gift of an Israel Bond is a
wonderful way to commemorate a milestone while helping to ensure Israel
's future. Investment forms are available at the J welcome desk or
from Israel Bonds at (800) 676-3101. When you buy a Mazel Tov Bond
the recipient will receive a statement showing a bond has been purchased
in his/her name along with a letter announcing your gift. At
maturity the graduate will receive a check for the principal and
interest. Meanwhile, Israel can re-establish the economic momentum
needed for sustained growth and development.
