Scott Pulvirent Awarded Eagle Scout

May 19th was the final step for Scott Pulvirent in his quest to become an Eagle Scout. Scott was honored at his Eagle Court of Honor along with his fellow scout Jordan Giangiulio. Dr. Douglas Hall, Principal of Will Davis Elementary School, was present to show his appreciation for Scott’s Eagle Scout Project of a Nature Preserve. Scott enjoyed his days at Davis and wanted to give something in return to show his appreciation. The Nature Preserve includes wooden signs identifying key trees native to the area, park benches and a bird bath for meditation, bird feeders to invite birds to visit allowing the youngsters the opportunity to learn more about them, a shed for holding much needed supplies, and most importantly enclosing an area protecting students from historic barbed wire.

Scott does not see this as the end of his journey, one which began with Cub Scout Pack #36 when Scott was only seven, but more as a milestone along the way. One major step along the way was the attainment of the Ner Tamid Award for Judaism. Scott has continued to stay active with Troop #511 where he has earned two Eagle Palms since achieving his Eagle Rank. In addition to his role in his Troop, Scott is also an active member in the Order of the Arrow, Scouting’s honor society, and was invited recently to join the rank of Brotherhood.

Although parents Gwen and Larry, Stephen, Aunt Lori, Mom Mom, Nana and Grandpa are very proud of Scott’s accomplishment, they are proudest of his loving heart and his commitment to taking care of others. Scott’s commitment to service can also be seen this summer through his volunteer efforts with Pioneer Farms and the Austin Nature and Science Center. This fall, Scott will be entering 10th grade at the Liberal Arts and Science Academy.
