Torah Study, Tuesday, October 30th, Noon, CKH Office.

Rebbe & Rebbetzin's Tisch, Friday, November 2nd, 6:30 pm, Rabbi Kerry & Lynda Baker's home.
Shabbat as it should be - at home, surrounded by family and friends with great food, stories, songs, and of course, schmoozin'! A great Kol Halev tradition, all are welcome to the home of Rabbi Kerry, Lynda & Emily Baker. Please bring a dish to share: dairy/pareve only. This month, we will welcome special guests from the newly established Partnership with the Western Galilee Region (www.westerngalilee.org.il), part of the Blue Knot Network in Israel (www.shalomaustin.org/blueknot). Blue Knot is a Jewish technology initiative designed to create networking opportunities to connect Jewish technology professionals to their industry and their Jewish community. Help welcome our Western Galilee visitors to Austin, learn about our new Partnership, and hear about the state of the technology world in Israel.

Family (Co-op) Shabbat, Friday, November 9th, 6:30 pm, ECP Multi-purpose Room.
Join our younger Co-op families for an early, family-oriented Shabbat Service.  After the service, we will share a dairy/pareve pot-luck dinner.

Chevrat Shlosha Devarim (CSD), Saturday, November 10th, 10:00 am, JCAA Community Hall.
Join us as young and old alike help lead this warm and intimate service.  Many of our B'nai Mitzvah students (past & present) lead prayers and chant Torah.  Please contact Reuven Robbins (453-5456 or <rrobbins@austin.rr.com>) if you would like a part in the service.  A kiddish luncheon follows the service.  If you would like to help sponsor the luncheons, send your tax-deductible contributions to the CKH office (with a note designating if for this purpose).

Kol Halev Gala

Mark your calendar for the Kol Halev Gala on Saturday, November 17th, 7:00 - 10:00 p.m.  Congregation Kol Halev will celebrate its 10th year anniversary and Rabbi Kerry Baker’s 30th anniversary of his ordination, with a special gala called Starry Night -- a celebration event for the families of Congregation Kol Halev and the Austin Jewish community.

Starry Night will be a fabulous gala with food, drink, entertainment, and a silent auction. That’s where you come in  ....

There's one week left to buy your tickets or send your greeting/tribute for inclusion in the commemorative book we will present to Rabbi Baker. (Send your completed reservation and tribute forms to the CKH office or contact Marcia Hoffman <sungoddess47@hotmail.com>.)

Chanukah in the 'Hood

Chanukah in the Hood needs CKH youth representation!  We’re looking for musicians who can give up two hours of their time to prepare a song or two for the community celebration of Chanukah.  Please email Amy O’Desky at <amyo@kolhalev.org> to volunteer.  We need instrumentalists to form a band and singers as well.  All ages of youth are welcome from elementary school to high school.  It’s going to be great! Rehearsal timing is TBD.

Austin Young Leadership trip to Israel!  February 28 - March 9, 2008.
Join Austin's Young Leadership trip to Israel!  We'll be the first to visit our new partnership region in the Western Galilee.  This trip will be a mixture of fun, service, learning, and connecting with the people and history of Israel.  We'll spend three whole nights in Tel Aviv, two nights in Nahariya—right on the beach—and three nights in Jerusalem!  And you only have to take 6 days off work!  Just check out the itinerary; you won't want to miss it!  Email dana.epstein@shalomaustin.org if you are interested.  Payment plans are available. The Austin Jewish Coalition Against Domestic Violence invites you to attend:
"It Takes a Community: Fostering Healthy Relationships in Jewish Youth"
Wednesday, November 14th, 8:00 am – 10:30 am, JCAA Community Hall.
Barri Rosenbluth, School-Based Services Director at Safeplace, will discuss what adults can do to educate and support youth in having safe and healthy relationships.  Participants will learn strategies for preventing bullying, sexual harassment, and dating abuse and for engaging youth as role models and leaders in their school and community.  Kosher Continental Breakfast Provided.  Suggested Donation $10 per person.  For more information contact Michele Chandler at 250-1043 or at michele.chandler@shalomaustin.org.
