.... Next Week at Kol Halev ....

Torah Study, Tuesday, February 12th, Noon, CKH Office.

Kabbalat Shabbat, Friday, February 15th, 7:30 pm, ECP Multi-purpose Room.
Join us for our regular Friday night Shabbat Service.  Additionally, A.J. Tarsi will receive his Aleph emblem for Cub Scouts.  The National Jewish Committee on Scouting developed the Aleph emblem to help Jewish Cub Scouts learn more about Judaism.  Rabbi Baker will present the emblem to A.J. during our service.

B'nai Mitzvah Hebrew Class Service, Saturday, February 16th, 10:00 am, JCAA Community Hall (150-D).
All B'nai Mitzvah students (those in the B'nai Mitzvah Chavurah), as well as our recent B'nai Mitzvah students, are encouraged to attend this learning service.  This service, designed for students only, will give the students a chance to learn more about the Saturday morning service at which most of them will have their Bar/Bat Mitzvah.  They will also have an opportunity to lead parts that they have already learned. We do not give out parts in advance - we will allocate parts as we go along in the service.

Meet Our New Co-president  ....

Regina Rogoff has stepped up to join me as co-president of CKH. Regina previously accepted Rabbi Baker's request that she chair our Social Action committee and started the community planning effort with the support of Austin Interfaith (where she serves on their board). She plans to merge these two rolls and help lead CKH forward.

Regina is the Executive Director of People’s Community Clinic, a not-for-profit primary care clinic providing affordable health care for uninsured central Texans. She has a B.A. degree from the University of Michigan/Ann Arbor and a J.D. degree from the University of Texas at Austin School of Law. She has also served as the Executive Director of Legal Aid of Central Texas for twenty years and a Legal Aid staff attorney for ten years, and started her career as a VISTA lawyer. She has also held numerous leadership positions in Austin’s human services, legal and Jewish communities.

Regina is married to Sam Jones and is the proud mother of two wonderful daughters, Sarah and Alissa. Many of you will remember Alissa (Zachary) for her fine leadership of the High Holy Days Committee last year (and this year).

Please join Rabbi Baker, myself, and the rest of the Board of Directors as we welcome Regina to this role.

Share the Shabbat Spirit at Friday Night Alive

Friday, February 29th, 7:30 pm

Kol Halev Member Challenge

Friday Night Alive has become a favorite event for members of Kol Halev and the Austin Community.  For our next Friday Night Alive! on February 29th we invite, no we CHALLENGE, each Kol Halev member to bring at least one guest to share the the Shabbat Spirit.  This is an opportunity to showcase one of our unique programs to friends and perspective members.  This will be a special evening of song, followed by a lovely dessert reception where we can visit with our friends, current members, and potential new members.  Be sure to introduce your guests to individuals within the Kol Halev community that night so that all will feel welcome.

Bring a friend, share the spirit!

We look forward to seeing everyone and their guests at this wonderful evening.  If you have any questions please contact Lisa and Seth Feder at <membership@kolhalev.org>.
