Bat Mitzvah Project

Natalie Becker will become a Bat Mitzvah in May and writes the following about her project:
“I’m doing a Read-a-thon as part of my Bat Mitzvah project and I was hoping that other kids would be willing to help.  The purpose of this Read-a-thon is to raise money for a school in Cambodia where education is desperately needed.  All the proceeds of this project will go directly to building and funding a school in Cambodia.  You can help change the lives of many children just by reading or finding readers (i.e. recruiting) for this read-a thon! If you decide to join this cause, or have any questions, e-mail me at <c.readathon@gmail.com>, and I will send you all the info you will need to be a reader and or recruiter in the Cambodia School Read-a-thon.  Kids will ask adults to sponsor them at a certain rate for pages they read during the time period.  Adults who wish to be a sponsor, but don’t have access to a participating kid, should also contact me at the above e-mail address.  If you wish to know more about the need in Cambodia visit www.cambodiaschools.com.  The read-a-thon officially begins March 3 (Read Across America Day), and will continue until May 3rd.  New readers, recruiters, and sponsors are welcome to join at any time!
Thank you – Natalie Becker”

Membership

The Membership Committee needs You!  We need a few volunteers who are interested in educating folks about the benefits of Kol Halev.  Committee members will help grow our congregation by introducing Kol Halev to new Austin residents, unaffiliated Jews in the area, or people who are just Kol Halev curious!  Please contact Seth and Lisa Feder at <lisa@lkfeder.com> if you'd like to be a part of it.

Also, the Membership Committee is here to contact potential new members and facilitate the new member process.  We ask that you challenge yourself this year to invite a friend or acquaintance to at least one event this year, then give us a “heads-up” if you know when somebody will be attending an event or a religious service.  That way, we can make sure someone from the membership team or the board is aware and available to answer any questions they may have.  This will go a long way in making that person feel welcome into the Kol Halev community.

Thanks!
