Membership

The Membership Committee needs You!  We need a few volunteers who are interested in educating folks about the benefits of Kol Halev.  Committee members will help grow our congregation by introducing Kol Halev to new Austin residents, unaffiliated Jews in the area, or people who are just Kol Halev curious!  Please contact Seth and Lisa Feder at <lisa@lkfeder.com> if you'd like to be a part of it.

Also, the Membership Committee is here to contact potential new members and facilitate the new member process.  We ask that you challenge yourself this year to invite a friend or acquaintance to at least one event this year, then give us a “heads-up” if you know when somebody will be attending an event or a religious service.  That way, we can make sure someone from the membership team or the board is aware and available to answer any questions they may have.  This will go a long way in making that person feel welcome into the Kol Halev community.

Thanks!

Tzedakah Rocks/Super Week

Kol Halev Sisterhood is joining the 2008 Austin United Jewish Campaign!
We need a team of 10 Kol Halev Sisterhood and Congregants on Thursday night, April 10, 6-9:00 pm

Join Us for Tzedakah Rocks/Super Week.  We have a goal of raising $2.8 million and want to include you in helping build our community.  Tzedakah Rocks/Super Week is a large part of our over-all fund-raising campaign and is a great opportunity for people in Austin to be together, get to know each other, have fun and raise very important dollars to support our Jewish programs in Austin and around the world.  You are critical to our success!  We need you for just 3 quick hours.

For Super Week - April 6th - 13th, we need lots of volunteers to help with:

* Creating and leading teams of 10 to be at Super Week
* Helping create excitement for team competitions
* Make Tzedakah-raising calls, assist with follow-up paper work and emails.

All the events will be at the JCAA, 7300 Hart Lane, in the Community Hall

Please let me know if you can join us on April 10!

Thanks, Karen Gault

Fiction lover, author and book reviewer Neena Husid will cover Israeli literature choices a little off the beaten track.  Selections include graphic novels, contemporary Israeli fiction, and off-beat humor.  Come talk, learn, and laugh.  This class has been delayed for a week and we will start with the Etgar Keret selection, The Bus Driver Who Wanted to Be God and Other Stories.  Other selections include:

April 1:    Apples from the Desert: Selected Stories by Savyon Liebrecht
April 8:    Exit Wounds by Ruth Modan
April 15:  Love Burns by Edna Mazya

Cost is JCC member, Melton students, and AJA Staff: $8 per class; Non-member: $10 per class.  You don't have to had read the books before you come and that the selections are short reads.  They can be read in class for the most part.  Those interested MUST RSVP to Brandi Bowie, 735-8062.  For more information please contact Neena Husid, (512) 735-8370.
